Surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape, the Pension Gerstenbrand is located away from the road in the idyllic town of Fischbachau in Upper Bavaria. This is the perfect place for those seeking peace and relaxation, yet still close to the Tegernsee, the Schliersee and the Chiemsee and many other attractions and activities in the mountains and valleys. In and around the traditional house, there are special treasures for you, dear guests.
Breakfast Delight
with regional specialities
We are happy to serve our breakfast in the breakfast room according to your wishes. Regional specialities find their place alongside fresh pastries and crispy bread from the local bakery. We value seasonality, freshness and regionality. The precious foodstuffs produced by farmers find a place of honour on our plates. We are happy to offer homemade jam, muesli, freshly brewed coffee, eggs, milk and dairy products, as well as sausage specialities from the farmer and various teas, fruit and vegetables. Our tip: try some regional honey from a local beekeeper! The numerous herbs for which the area is known make this delicacy something very special.

Enjoy nature in the garden
The large sunbathing area, the play areas for children and the impressive view of the surrounding landscape make the garden around the Pension Gerstenbrand a real natural gem and a highlight for the whole family. Away from the road, you can play, romp and enjoy yourself to your heart's content. The new barbecue area is particularly popular, inviting you to spend convivial summer evenings here. In winter, sledging is especially popular – when there is enough snow, we build our own bobsleigh run for the children!
Garden & Meadow
The spacious garden invites you to linger. Let your soul dangle with a view of the surrounding nature – the landscape around the Gerstenbrand guesthouse is something very special at any time of the year. In summer, colourful flowers and herbs bloom in the surrounding meadows, while in winter the region is transformed into a glittering snow paradise.
Our barbecue place
The lovingly designed barbecue area ensures a cosy get-together by the fire. The grill, hand-forged in the region, is a hit with young and old alike. A crackling fire in the evening, the fine scent of freshly grilled food – so nothing stands in the way of warm summer evenings with Bavarian specialities!
For Kids
The different play areas provide fun and variety in the fresh air. While the parents sit comfortably in the sun, the children can play undisturbed. Away from the road, you will find peace and relaxation and plenty of space to run around. The facilities, which include a trampoline, table tennis and a climbing wall, invite you to slide, swing, play in the sand and much more in summer, while fun snowball fights and tobogganing await you in winter.

The cosy rooms offer a fantastic view of the surrounding nature and breakfast is served in the lovingly designed breakfast room, which can also be used as a lounge. The Gerstenbrand guesthouse is a place where you can enjoy the company of others. Please feel free to join us – but the spacious design also ensures plenty of room and space for individuality.
Our Chapel
The chapel of the Hagnberger family, which is located just a few metres from the house, has a very special history. In the 1970s and 1980s, the altar was stolen and the building was in danger of falling into disrepair. Peter's mother took it upon herself in the 1990s to restore the chapel to its former glory.The listed building was completely renovated and restored according to exact specifications. It was the father of former skier Markus Wasmeier who lovingly restored the ceiling painting. The benches have also been preserved in their original state.
Shortly before its completion, the altar miraculously reappeared. It had been acquired by a neighbour of Wasmeier who was building a chapel. When it became clear that the altar had originally been in the Gerstenbrand Chapel and had been stolen a few years earlier, it was returned to its original location with the consent of all parties. And so, a short time later, the chapel was solemnly blessed with its own altar.
Another highlight of the traditional place of worship is the ‘guest bell’. In the past, this bell was rung when guests left. It was a way of saying ‘goodbye’. It also let the neighbours know when the Hagnbergers had new guests. Today, this bell is used as the chapel bell.
